Westhope Mews opened in December 2005 and offers a quiet location in Denne Pde Horsham yet is within walking distance ( approx 150 yards) from The Carfax and the local shops as well as Horsham Park with its cinema, swimming pool, bowling centre, library and other public amenities.
Westhope Mews is split into 2 succinct facilities.
1.Registered Residential Care. On the ground floor there is a Care Quality Commission registered residential care home providing accommodation and personal care for 8 adults with learning and physical difficulties. Each bedroom exceeds minimum standards and has its own en-suite bathroom with a fully equipped disabled wet shower complete with hoist if necessary.
There are ample communal areas including kitchen, dining room, lounge room, activities room and also an additional training kitchen to enable service users to practice the essential everyday skills of preparing meals.
A dedicated activities co-ordinator will design a program of events to suit each service user according to their own wishes and as described in their Person Centred Care Plan. Transport is provided to those activities outside the home and many are assisted to develop additional life skills to enable then to become more independent.
2. Support Living . There are 2 separate Supported Living homes each supporting up to 6 tenants with their own room tenancy. Each home has its own kitchen and shared living and dining room and support is given when needed and at the direction of the individual tenant according to their individual goal plans. Westhope Care adopts the Reach Standards whereby the individual has choice about who supports him/her, when that support is given, where he/she lives, support as to who is chosen to live with and be friends with and also to be healthy and safe and to have the same rights/ responsibilities as other citizens.
